Josephine "Betsy" MacKay

Josephine "Betsy" MacKay, age 74, of Trenton, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2015 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Waterford on November 28, 1940, she was a daughter of the late John Joseph and Mercedes (Dwyer) Murphy.  Our mom always loved to play bingo and a good game of cards. Her greatest happiness came from the love of her grandchildren. Betsy is survived by children: Alice (Jim) Fortune; Matthew (Jodi) MacKay; Susan (David) Falcitelli; grandchildren: Melissa and Jimmy Fortune; Maggie, Rebecca and Dylan MacKay; Taylor and Nicholas Falcitelli, all of Trenton. She is also survived by her brothers: Vince, John and Robert Murphy; special niece, Anne Holden, all of Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph "Buddy" MacKay in 2011, infant daughter, Nora, grandson, baby Matthew MacKay, sisters: Julia "Sis" and Jane, brother, Dennis. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service at the request of the deceased. A private family graveside service will be held. Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton.
