Nancy Fraser, D.M.

Nancy Keith Fraser, D.M., 76 years of age died in New Glasgow on June 6, 2016 in Palliative Care at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Nancy was born in New Glasgow, the eldest daughter of Keith Patterson and Anna Adelia (Errickson) Fraser. Nancy loved Chance Harbour where she spent her childhood summers at the family cottage.  It was here Nancy started a well known and well respected swimming program.  She reached the level of Distinction with the Royal Life Saving Society. Until recently, she continued her interest in swimming at the New Glasgow Wellness Centre.  She was involved in The International Cultural Affairs for 15 years which later guided her back to the United Church, ministering in a warm and compassionate manner.  Just one year ago, Nancy, as a Diaconal Minister was honored on her 50th anniversary at Trinity United Church. Nancy was a member of the Trinitarians, Trinity Church Choir and a founding member of the Woman Alike Abreast a River Dragon Boat Team, Big Sister of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pictou County and past member of the Board of Directors of the Pictou County Health Authority. Nancy loved her family.  She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved grandmother, Marjorie (Keith, Fraser) Lawrence, sister-in -law, Susan Fraser and aunt, Ethel Fraser.  Nancy is survived by siblings: Patsy; Susan (Doug MacDonald); John and his children Stacey (Albert Hewlett) and their daughter Twila, Erik (Jennifer) and their children Lucas, Andrew and Noella; George (Kathleen) and their children Casey and Paddy; and by special cousin Rob Fraser. The family will meet with friends at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from 3-7 pm, Thursday June 9. Service will be held at Trinity United Church at 2 pm Friday, June 10. Interment in Castle Hill Cemetery, McLellan’s Brook. Family flowers only.  Donations may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care, Woman Alike Society or charity of choice.  

Nancy had a warm smile and a twinkle in her eye. She will be missed.
