Patricia MacDearmid

Patricia Frances MacDearmid, age 80, of New Glasgow, died peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2016, at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. She was a daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy (Gregg) MacDearmid. She was predeceased by her sister, Faunette "Faun" MacDearmid in February 2015. Pat graduated from the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing, completed a post graduate course in Operating Room Nursing in Winnipeg and graduated from Dalhousie University with her B.N. degree. Pat taught nursing at the Aberdeen and IWK in Halifax and also worked in the OR in New Glasgow and the V.G. in Halifax until she retired. She enjoyed her nursing career, loved to garden, enjoyed her time at the cottage and was an avid reader. She will be missed by her relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 pm Thursday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow. Burial will be in Lorne Street Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, Mountain Road, New Glasgow or the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
