Ann MacGregor-Strum

1950-2017

Ann MacGregor-Strum

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ann Werder MacGregor-Strum of Halifax and Chance Harbour on January 8, 2017 in the Halifax Infirmary.  Ann was born December 12, 1950 in New Glasgow.  She was the daughter of the late John H. MacGregor and Marguerite (Werder, MacGregor) MacKinnon. Ann was predeceased by her husband, Brian Strum.  She is survived by her sons: Matthew and grandson Brian; Alex (Meaghan) and granddaughters Hannah and Fiona; her best friend, Maryl MacQuarrie and relatives in Switzerland.  Ann did an undergraduate degree in Russian Studies and a Masters in Library Science both at Dalhousie University.  She worked as a librarian in the North End branch library and in the boys’ school in Montreal.  When Ann moved back to Halifax in 1997, she and her Mom enjoyed Neptune Theatre and Symphony Nova Scotia. Ann was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and in her quiet way made a difference.  Ann had a warmth that would light up a room and always made you feel welcome.  She will be missed.  Family flowers only please.  Donations may be made to Feed Nova Scotia or the SPCA.  Ann was always very generous in contributing to worthy causes.  A "Happy Hour" to celebrate Ann will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Glasgow Square, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia at 4 pm. Arrangements under the care of R.H. Porter Funeral Home.
