Lawrence 'Larry' Taplin

Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Taplin, age 79, passed away November 7th, 2017, surrounded by family in the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital.  Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Joseph and Maud (Wilson) Taplin. Larry was employed as a Signal Maintainer with the CNR for 37 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Karen (Grant) Taplin; sons: David Taplin (Christie) of Pugwash; Jamie Taplin (Kim) of Greely; ON; daughter, Tanya Taplin (Pete) of Ottawa; ON; granddaughters: Mary Katelyn (Dev), and Kiley; grandsons: Riley and Todd (Jena); great grandchildren: Colton and Ali Rae; step grandchildren: Cadence and Kyle. He is also survived by brother, Herb Taplin (Helen), Truro; sisters: Sandra Roy (Rob), Charlottetown, PEI; Karen MacLaughlin (Lowell) Lochaber; and a niece and several nephews. A visitation will take place on Friday, November 10thfrom 2-4 and 7-9 pm, at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 11th at 2 pm at the Trinity United Church in New Glasgow with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA (PO Box 786, New Glasgow, NS, B2H 5G2), Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital (C/O Aberdeen Health Foundation, 835 East River Road, New Glasgow, NS, B2H 3S6), or Trinity United Church (151 Temperance St., New Glasgow, NS, B2H 3A9).
