Betty Lou Cooke

1933-2018

Betty Lou Cooke

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Betty Lou Cooke (Jenkins), 85, of Trenton, NS on March 20, 2018.  Born in Trenton, on March 17, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Forrest and Bertha Jenkins.

She was employed over the years at Tibbets Paints, Trenton High School, and Elections Canada.  She is most known for her volunteer work, which she received numerous recognitions for her dedication, and that spanned most of her lifetime.  Besides her love for her family and friends, she loved to read, play cards and bingo, spent numerous hours at puzzles, and loved music and dancing.

She was a member and past President of the Steeltown Friendly Group for over 30 years, longtime member of the Concerned Citizens of Trenton, a proud member of the Progressive Conservative Party, and member of the former St. Augustine’s Anglican Church.  But most of all, she has always been "Home" to her very large family, whom she loved to cook for and bake her famous pies and bread and everyone was always welcome.

She is survived by her children: Gordon (Yolanda), Clifford (Shirley), Darrell (Sharon), Wendy (David), Tracey (Eddy), Odessa (Raymond); grandchildren: Joanna, Rhonda, Shawn, Hillary, Haley, Kaitlyn, Laurie, Aaron, Crystal, Joel, Amelia, Corey, Colin, Jason; great-grandchildren: Abigail, Carter, Ava, Lincoln, Zoey, Autumn, Chloe; chosen children: Lee and Billy; sister, Verna; sisters-in-law: Renie, Margaret; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Mackie, Ernie, Aulden; and sisters, Dorothy, Lee.
