Vivian Tucker

1930-2018

Vivian Florence Tucker, age 88, of Stellarton, NS, formerly of Little Harbour, passed away at the Aberdeen Hospital Monday, August 13, 2018, after a brief illness surrounded by her family. Born March 31, 1930 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of Dorothy Harper (Livingstone) and Howard Ross. She was the eldest of four children, sister to Marian Heighton, May Weir and the late June Munroe.

Vivian worked as an administrative assistant at Fraser and Hoyt and later at the NS Department of Mines, known to many as the "Map Lady" where she finished her career retiring in 1990.

She was the wife of the late Raymond (Red) Tucker from Stellarton with whom she lovingly raised three children, Kim Grant (Ken Atkinson), Kirby (Brenda) and Kent (Pam).

Vivian was an active community member and dedicated many years to the AMS of the Little Harbour Presbyterian Church. She was an avid gardener and walker who enjoyed the shore of Melmerby Beach for many years, a passion she nurtured in her family.

Vivian will be remembered for her gentle and graceful spirit. She had a deep love for her family and was a devoted caregiver to many during her life. Vivian was a loving mother and proud grandmother to her grandchildren, Kirsten (Paul), Jacob (Violet), Ross (Yanan), Thornton, Jameson (Stephanie), Colin and Garrett. More recently she became GG to her great granddaughter, Vivian who was named for her.

Her family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit team at the Aberdeen Hospital who cared for her in her final days.

Visitation will be held 6-9 pm Thursday, at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral service 1 pm Friday at the Little Harbour Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Lorne MacLeod officiating. Burial will be in the Church Brook Cemetery. Donations in memory of Vivian may be made to the Church Brook Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
