Jim Romans

1937-2019

It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Foster James "Jim" Romans, age 82, in the Aberdeen Hospital on July 27th after a long struggle with illness, with his wife and family by his side. Jim was a son of the late Foster and Mary (Byrne) Romans.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anne (Fraser); daughter, Tana (Sonny) Fraser of Trenton; sons: James (Doreen) of Sackville; Karl (Melissa) of Trenton; and brother Clary (Nancy). Jim was also very proud of his grandsons: Robert, Andrew, Michael, and Kyle as well as his 8 great-grandchildren.

Jim and Anne enjoyed traveling the Maritimes for years. He loved getting to Country Harbour, the camp and visiting family in Halifax where he was born. Jim will be missed by all and always put his family first. His wit and joking ways will be remembered forever. He could often be found with a cold beer in his hand, good food and a smile on his face.

Jim was a self-employed painter and could always be counted on for help at any time. He was a retired member of Local 1231 Steelworkers as an employee of the equipment shop where Jim made many friends and acquaintances over the years.

He was predeceased by brothers, Bernie and Raymond; and sisters, Lorraine and Joan.

Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, July 31st at 11am at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow. Reception to follow. There will be no visitation.

The family would like to thank 4th floor staff and palliative care for their care and compassion to Jim and his family. Donations may be made to the Red Cross or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton.
