Roselyn MacArthur

1940-2019

Roselyn MacArthur

Roselyn MacArthur, Halifax. Born in 1940, she passed away peacefully  on November 12, 2019 at Gables Lodge, Amherst. She was the daughter of Christine Jean MacArthur and Angus Edward MacArthur. She was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Jim and Ronnie. Survived by three sisters, Sandra (Vernon) Beck, Oshawa, ON; Pat (Norman) Lord, Little Harbour; Jean (Bill) Reid, New Glasgow; sisters-in-law, Rose, Midland ON; Marcia, Vancouver, BC; and several nieces and nephews.

Retired from the N.S. Government, Rose had been an Administrative Assistant to several Ministers of  the Dept. of Mines and Energy.  Prior to moving back to Nova Scotia in 1973, Rose worked for CBC, the Liberal Party and a Bay Street Lawyer in Toronto. Rose was the owner operator of Roselyn Fabrics in Halifax where she retailed high quality fabrics. She was a skilled seamstress creating custom attire for her client

Rose was an active person with much determination and perseverance. Her artistic talents were evident in her home with the display of her water color art and her own meticulous framing of fashion prints. She was a prolific gardener often sharing her expanding perennials with friends and neighbours.

Rose’s close friends provided great support during her challenge with dementia, making it possible for her to remain in her own home until recently. Rose treasured  their frequent visits  while sharing a coffee/tea and warm friendship. She moved to Long Term Care at Gables Lodge, Amherst, NS on October 1st.

Special thanks to the Halifax VON and the compassionate staff on the North wing of Gables Lodge, who kindly helped Rose settle into her new home. Her period at Gables was short when she succumbed to her health challenges

Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, NS. Cremation has taken  place and there will be no visitation or funeral. A Memorial Service in Halifax will be announced at a later time.
