Alex Goodwin

Joseph Alexander Goodwin, 87, passed away peacefully in  the early morning of January 24, 2020, with his niece, Vera Lynn MacNeil by his bedside. Alex was a son of the late William and Sadie (Benoit) Goodwin. He was also predeceased by his siblings, brothers, John Thomas Goodwin, Anthony Goodwin, Steven Goodwin, Collie Goodwin; a sister, Lillian (Goodwin) MacNeil. Surviving are his two brothers, Clayton Goodwin and Carl Goodwin, Glen Haven Manor; and a sister, Corrine (Goodwin) Good, Cambridge, ON; many nieces and nephews. Due to his disabilities, he was cared for at home most of his life prior to going into the nursing homes. Clayton and Carl were always a great comfort to Alex, with the three of them then residing at High Crest on Forbes St., New Glasgow for many years and finally at Glen Haven Manor for Alex’s last number of years. The staff at both homes have always treated the three of them with a warm fondness and wonderful care. I wish to thank the doctors and nurses at the Emergency, Aberdeen Hospital, for the great care provided to Uncle Alex. He was then returned to Glen Haven Manor for palliative care in order to be with close family members for his time remaining which was greatly appreciated. A great deal of gratitude is also extended to the staff on Ocean Drive, Glen Haven Manor, who went above and beyond to keep Uncle Alex comfortable until his passing. Your kind words and thoughtfulness will always be remembered. God bless you all. Cremation will take place, later followed by a graveside only service in the Summer 2020.
