Sandra Sewell

1942-2020

Sandra Sewell

Sandra Anne Sewell. With heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and sister-in-law on March 19, 2020. Born in New Glasgow on October 29, 1942 (first day of hunting season), Sandra was a daughter of John and Celina (Cormier) Millen.

Sandra delivered mail for RR#1 Westville for over 30 years. She also owned and ran the North End Laundromat for over 15 years. In her early years, she painted for F.O. MacLeod.

One of Sandra’s greatest talents was her singing. She began singing at a very young age and won many competitions in her early years. She continued singing throughout her life where she sang solos in the Church of the Nazarene; she joined a women’s Barbershop Quintet in her later years and sang soprano for seniors throughout the community. All will miss your amazing gift!!!

Such a kind, giving soul, she was always there for others, never looking for anything in return. Mom was a true earth angel in so many ways.

A note from Mom, "A very special thanks to my daughter-in-law Doreen. It was my pleasure and I will always be with you. And to John F. for always bringing laughter and the unexpected, I will never forget your kindness and all my very expensive gifts. Haha"

She is survived by sons: Brad, Leduc, AB; Mike, Pictou County, NS; Kirby (Adela), Abbotsford, BC; sister, Robina (Jim) Kellett; grandchildren: Samantha, John, Cory, Greg, Christian, Gage and Bodie Sewell; great grandchildren: Rebecca, Russell, Austin; several nieces and nephews and that darn cat, Oscar!; sister-in-law, Evelyn Millen; brother-in-law, Tom Favier; sisters-in-law: Diane Sewell; Carolyn Sewell; Judy (Stan) McClary, Halifax; brother-in-law, Jackie (Netie), Halifax; and Corrina Reynolds and Fr. John Mills; many friends along her journey. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Havlock Sewell; her brother, Frank Millen; sister, Lillian Favier; brothers-in-law: Jerry Sewell and Ross Sewell.

A very special thanks to all the staff at the Aberdeen Hospital. You were beyond amazing!!!

A celebration of life will be planned when we can safely gather all family and friends. We are hoping for this coming summer. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers and donations, Mom simply asks, just be kind and help others. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton.

I love you more, Mom
