We are greatly saddened by the passing of our mother and grandmother, Vivian Catherine (Stroud) Penney on Monday, March 30, 2020. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was born in New Glasgow on April 13, 1930. She is survived by her daughters: Wanda Martin (Art MacDonald), McLellan’s Brook; Heidi Boyles (Jim), Trenton; Ramona Wiigs (Dave), Calgary, AB; sons: Dennis, Nunavut; Steven; her grandchildren: Amanda, Tiffany, Ashley, Ben, Charlie, Randy, Arron, Natasha, Tanya, Lisamarie, Shaylynn, Kim, Erica and Sean. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Jewell and Catherine (Martell) Stroud, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward; sisters: Dorothy, Anna, Alice (Buddy); brothers: Bill, Pete, Jordie; a brother and sister in infancy. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29, Trenton, where she loved to play darts with the Ladies League on Thursday nights. In her younger years, she worked at the Coffee Pot and McRae’s Restaurant and was a supervisor at East Pictou High School from where she retired at the age of 65. As per her request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be at a later date. Donations may be made to the SPCA. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton.
