Peter Joseph Power, 59, New Glasgow, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. Peter was born in Toronto on August 27, 1960, a son of the late Joseph Edmund and Mary Florence (Scholes) Power.
Peter was a lifelong outdoor enthusiast, and handyman extraordinaire; traits inherited from his father. He enjoyed traversing and exploring the countryside, visiting antique shops, and various local vendors. He delighted in adding to his "Coke" and cast-iron collections. Peter had a fond attachment with the family cottage, and found great pleasure spending as much of his time there as possible; accompanied, in recent years, by his constant canine companion, Ben.
Peter was predeceased in 2014 by his loving wife, best friend and soul mate Caroline (MacDonald) Power. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Lauren (Chad Rogers) Power, New Glasgow and Katelyn (Jonny) Daye, Pictou, as well as grandchildren, Bentley Dean and Peyton Daye; also sisters, Terri (Teddy) Schipper, Toronto; Anne Marie Power, Mount Pearl, NL; Cathie (Dean) Simms, St. John’s, NL; nephews Matthew and Morgan, and nieces Chantelle and Emily; father-in-law, George MacDonald, New Glasgow; brother-in-law, Mike MacDonald, New Glasgow.
There will be a public interment service at 2 pm Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Hamilton Cemetery, River John, NS, with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Those attending are asked to practise social distancing. Donations in his memory may be made to the Dickson Centre, Halifax. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
