Burrell (Beaton) Anita Mary … 68. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Anita Burrell who died peacefully at home after a very private battle with cancer. She was born January 22, 1942 in Stellarton and was the daughter of the late Robert (Bobby) and Bertha (MacDonald) Beaton. She graduated from Stellarton High School and attended Cape Breton Business Collage. She worked for Sydney Credit Union and the Canada Employment Centre prior to relocating to Halifax where she worked for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Lindsay Construction and was proud to be Executive Secretary to the publisher of the Halifax Chronicle Herald where she retired in 1981. Anita will be fondly remembered by her warm embrace and affectionate hug for everyone she met as well as her love for the warm winters spent with her friends in Florida. She is survived by her husband Samuel (Sam), daughter Janice (David) Chambers of Falmouth, brothers Bernie, Halifax, Robert (Donna), Lyons Brook, grandchildren Evan, Alex, Samantha and Jonathan Chambers all of Falmouth. Also a niece Lisa (Terry) Sooley, Toronto and nephews Robbie, Guelph and Darren (Michelle), Toronto. She was predeceased by brothers John and Graham. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church New Glasgow and volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Little Harbour Fire Department. Visitation will be held in the R H Porter Funeral Home New Glasgow Monday from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 9, at 11am from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, High Street New Glasgow with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery Stellarton, after which a reception will be held at the Little Harbour Fire Department. Family flowers only.
