Bertram Graham
1929-2012
Bertram James Graham, 83, of 328 Frederick Street, passed away Monday,
January 23 in the Aberdeen Hospital with his loving wife by his side.
Born in Oshawa, Ontario, he was a son of the late Merritt and Mabel
(Clark) Graham. Bert was an accountant who retired from Creditel
Accounting and later the Corps Commissionaires in Halifax. He was
retired from the Army and was a member of Br. 34 RCL; a former member
of over 50 Dart League and Ward One Dart League. Up until illness
changed his life, Bert loved to cook and loved to carry on a
conversation whether it was at Sobeys or the Eastside Restaurant. He
is survived by his wife: Evelyn (Desmond); daughter: Diane (Dinny)
(Jim); sons: John and George, all of Ontario; step-daughters: Juanita,
Karen, Alice, Annette (Greg), all of New Glasgow; Carolyn, Montreal;
Jessie (Darryl), Kamloops; sister: Mabel (Jerri); brother: Bob
(Bette); 6 grandchildren, all of Ontario. He was predeceased by a
sister Betty. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive
visitors on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the R.H. Porter Funeral
Home in New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 pm from
Second United Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Morley Shaw officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date in Ontario. Royal Canadian
Legion Br. 34 will conduct their service at 6:30 pm Thursday at the
funeral home. Special thanks to the staff at Glen Haven Manor for
providing such wonderful care of Bert. Donations may be made to the
