McCarthy (nee Leahy), Margaret Mary. Passed away at Camp Hill Veteran's Memorial Hospital Halifax on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the age of 93. She was beloved mother to: Sheila, James, Susan and John; grandmother of: Stephanie, Valerie, Andrew, Fabrice and Anjali; great grandmother of: Nicholas, William, Beatrice, Madeleine and Thomas. She is also survived by sisters: Marie Leclaire, Dorothy Leahy, Bernadette Hardwick and Patricia Stewart. She was predeceased by her son, David; two brothers and three sisters. Following a decorated career as a nurse in the Canadian Army, Margaret raised her family in Montreal and moved back to Nova Scotia in 1997 and lived in Cornwallis Park for ten years. Margaret was an avid world traveler, visiting over thirty countries. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. The private service will take place at 11:30 am on Saturday, May 26, at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Attending will be her four children, several of her grandchildren as well as her sisters, nieces and nephews. She will rest in peace beside her beloved son David.
