Mary Dickson

The death of Mary Georgina Dickson, age 86, occurred Monday, January 26, 2015. She was the youngest of three girls born to the late Gilbert and Margaret "Maggie" (O’Callaghan) Saunders.  She was a resident of Stellarton until her marriage to the late Bob Dickson who built their home in Trenton.  Mary was a graduate of the 1946 class of Stellarton High School, taught school for one year and after raising her family, proofread at the former Evening News for 10 years. She was a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society, Liturgy Committee and Social Action Group. Mary was President for two terms of the Steeltown Seniors Group.  A lover of music, she sang in choirs as a youth and a senior.  She loved a game of bridge and was thankful to her Bridge Buddies who made sure she always had transportation to her Wednesday games.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Robert "Bob" Dickson; two sisters: Rita and Agnes. She is survived by a daughter, Jane (Gary) Campbell, Riverton Heights; sons: Pat (Isabell), Lower Sackville; Ron John (Paula), Trenton; 5 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 3 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter.  At Mary’s request, cremation will take place and there will be no visitation.  A private family graveside service will take place at a later date in Christ the King Cemetery, Trenton.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Kidney Foundation or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton.
