James "Jimmie" MacKinnon

James William "Jimmie" MacKinnon, age 67, of Trenton, passed away unexpectedly on March 26, 2015. Jimmie had become a resident of High Crest Nursing Home in June 2014, and it was there that he received a better quality of life. He was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University in 1971. Following graduation, he worked at Hawker Siddeley for 23 years.  He had suffered with mental illness most of his life. Jimmie was also a member of New Hope, a local chapter of Mental Health. He cherished his days there talking to his nurse Shelley and his friends. Above all, Jimmie loved his feline friends so much that his dear tabby was Tabby the 5 th. He was predeceased by his father, William Angus MacKinnon and his mother, Christine Agnes (MacDonald) MacKinnon. He is survived by his brother, Joseph MacKinnon and his sister, Nina MacDonald (Jerome); cousin and special friend, Jackie MacDonald; 3 nephews: Joey, John and Jarrod, all of Kenzieville; niece, Margaret Jean Auz, Connecticut. Visitation 7-9 pm Sunday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral mass 10:30 am Monday in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Parish Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to New Hope (Chapter of Mental Illness), 352 East River Road, New Glasgow, NS, B2H 3P7.
