Jeffery 'Jeff' Rose

1945-2020

Jeffery 'Jeff' Rose

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, papa, brother and friend, Jeffery E.C. Rose (aka JR, Jessie Duke, Jeffery F) on Friday, February 21, 2020. He was born May 22, 1945 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Big Jeff and Peggy Rose.

Survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann Marie; son, Peter (Kim Bugden), grandchildren Karlee and Spencer, 2 grand dogs, Little Harbour; daughter, Sheri (Stephen Woolley), 2 grand dogs, Fletchers Lake; brother, Stephen Rose, Little Harbour; sisters, Patricia Rose, New Glasgow, and Sharon (Rob) Davis, Kanata, ON; nieces and nephews.

Jeff graduated from St. F.X University in 1969 with his Bachelor of Business Administration (the first to make 100 in Accounting).  After graduating X, he continued his career with the Royal Bank totalling 37 years, working in Summerside, Montreal, Saint John, Halifax and finally returning to his home, New Glasgow, to retire his career with the Royal Bank.  He was a respected, successful entrepreneur with land development and Harbourway Storage.  During his working years in New Glasgow he was very community focused, involved with Rotary, Chairman of Heart and Stroke campaign, United Way, past President of Pictou East PC Party, member of Little Harbour Presbyterian Church and on the Board of Managers.

After retiring, Jeff and Ann Marie spent 15 winters snow birding in Sarasota, Florida, where many great and lasting friendships were made.  His Sun’n’Fun friends are all extended family.

Jeff’s love for his family was immense, he adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with all his family members.  Point Forty Four was always home.  He was so happy to have built his home there and enjoyed the quiet and beauty of the nature that surrounded him.

His generosity extended far from his family and reached all corners of Pictou County including being a secret Santa to many who don’t even know. If you were fortunate enough to be a friend of JR’s you knew you had a lifelong friend.  Jeff will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Thanks to Robyn Fraser RN, Christina Clark RN, Tanner Hughes RN, Holly and Marie RRT’s, Nathan and Shawn, paramedics and the attending doctors at the Aberdeen Hospital for their compassionate care given to Jeff.

A celebration of life will be held at Little Harbour Community Centre, Saturday, March 7 from 3-5 pm with words of remembrance at 4 pm. Donations may be made to The Salvation Army, Big Brothers and Sisters, ALS Society or a charity of your choice.  Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
