James Drummond "Jim" MacGregor, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on August 27, 2021.  Jim was born on November 7, 1932 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, the third child to Marion (Webster) and Roderick MacGregor.  Jim was a graduate of Trinity College School (Port Hope, ON), Royal Military College (BSc) and McGill University (BEng).  His work as an engineer took him from the west coast of Canada to the east including several years in Newfoundland where he met the love of his live, Elizabeth, before settling in Halifax.  In his youth, he was a gifted athlete, playing varsity hockey, football and boxing, as well as an avid outdoorsman and sailor.  In later years, he treasured nothing more than time spent with family, in particular at the family cottage in Rustico.  Jim will be dearly missed by his wife, Elizabeth; children, Beth and Rod (Cathy); grandsons, James and Peter; and sister, Pat (Tom) Richardson.  In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his sister, Cherry.  At Jim’s request, a private graveside service will take place in New Glasgow at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
