Joan Elizabeth Embree, November 3, 1933 - September 26, 2021.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved aunt, Joan Embree. Joan went home to God in the early morning of Sunday, September 26th. She was a daughter of the late Alexander and Janet Embree (Clark) of Westville. Joan was predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence and William Embree and her sister, Muriel Boyce. She is survived by many nieces, one nephew, and many great nieces and nephews.

Joan, by career, was a school teacher and children learned not only school lessons but respect and kindness for others in her classroom. Joan was always taking care of others and spent her life in service of all people she loved and those who needed a helping hand.

Being a very religious person, she held her Catholic faith close to her heart and always walked the path of a devout Christian. Joan never married but surrounded herself with many lifelong friends.

Joan was close to all her siblings but there was a special bond between her and her sister. There were many family meals with Muriel, Ray, GayleMarie, Barry and Leah. Although Joan did not partake, she loved to watch the after-dinner matches of 45s. After the games, she would make her way to Stacia’s for a cup of tea and a chat before going home to her beloved cat, Handsome.

Joan loved to drive; it was her comfort in later life to be able to go for daily drives with her caregivers.

Joan's passing will leave all who knew and loved her with a heavy heart.

Funeral mass 11am Tuesday, October 5, in Church of the Holy Name, Westville, with Father Peter MacDonald presiding. As per N.S. COVID-19 restrictions, all attendees must wear a mask and show proof of full vaccination. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Church of the Holy Name.
