Phyllis Martha Patterson, 86, of New Glasgow, passed away at
the Aberdeen Hospital with her family by her side on October 3, 2021.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and
Gertrude (Mintis) Reddick. She was a faithful member of the Second
United Baptist Church. She worked for Claritone and Michelin. Phyllis
was a mover and a shaker in the community for many years! She was a
member of the Ward One Center, holding different positions; New
Glasgow Legion Branch 34; the Halifax Northern Star Lodge; a founding
member of the Black Gala Homecoming. When asked, she was always
willing and able to lend a hand with a big smile.
She is survived by her children: Kim, Halifax; Kevin, Kyle
(Pearl), Karen all of New Glasgow; Kendall (Bonnie), Alberta; and Duke
(Donna), BC; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great
great-grandchild; with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Allen; son Kerry; her
parents and brothers and sisters.
Cremation will take place under the direction of R.H Porter
Funeral Home. Visitation 11am – 1pm Friday, October 8 in
Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow. Memorial service will take
place at 2 pm Friday, in Second United Baptist Church, officiated by
Pastor Moses Adekola. As per N.S. COVID-19 restrictions, all attendees
must wear a mask and show proof of full vaccination for both the
visitation and funeral. A link to a recording of the service is below.
There will be no repast following the service. Interment will take
place at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the Second United Baptist Church or
the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen
