Leigh Cale Sutton, 49, of Halifax, passed away suddenly at his home November 2, 2021.

Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Marsha Lynne (MacKay) Sutton and Austin James Sutton.

A graduate of the NSCC Auto Mechanics program, Cale worked as a mechanic and a tow operator for many years.

He had a life-long passion for music and spent many hours practicing on his guitar and drums.  Cale also was formidably skilled at any hobby that he set his hand to, pursuing each with a level of obsession and attention to detail that belied his laid-back personality.

Primary among his many interests was keeping up on the latest scientific and medical advancements in the field of heart transplant technology, especially where artificial means and methods would eliminate our dependence on donors for such a critical purpose.

Always quick with a smile and armed with a wry sense of humour, Cale easily made friends wherever he went.

He is survived by: his parents, Austin and Marsha (MacKay) Sutton, New Glasgow; brother Colin, Halifax; former spouse, Tammy (Holley), New Glasgow; former partner April Weston, New Glasgow; and daughter Destiny Sutton, New Glasgow, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

A public graveside service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, November 7, in Abercrombie Cemetery. A link to a recording of the service is below. All attendees are asked to wear a mask and as per Nova Scotia COVID-19 restrictions, everyone must show proof of full vaccination and valid ID. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada, Suite 917, 750 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC, V5Z 1H8. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
