Donald E. MacDonald, age 80, of Lower Barney’s
River, passed away in the Aberdeen Hospital on January 4, 2022. Born
in New Glasgow on June 22, 1941, he was a son of the late Angus and
Ollie MacDonald of Hillside, Trenton. He is survived by his wife of 59
years, Carol Ann (Young) MacDonald; daughter, Margaret (Philip) Oakes;
daughter-in-law, Debbie MacDonald; grandchildren: Christopher (Laura)
Oakes, Lyndsay Oakes, Kayla, Nick, Jenna and Brett MacDonald; seven
great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law,
Dorothy Campbell; brother-in-law, Robert (Betty) Young; sister-in-law,
Peggy Young. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son,
Steve; sister, Joan Campbell; brothers: Sheldon (Shirley) Campbell;
Stewart Campbell; sister-in-law, Helen Young; brother-in-law, Wayne
Young. He was a member of the Merigomish United Church. He worked for
Eastern Transport and several other trucking companies before
purchasing Cliff’s Taxi, which he and his wife operated for
14 ½ years before retirement. Due to COVID restrictions, a
private funeral will be held on January 6 at R.H. Porter Funeral Home,
