Stan Vachal

1931-2022

Stan Vachal

Stanley William Vachal, age 90 of Trenton, NS, passed away on Tuesday January 11th, 2022 surrounded by the loving nurses at the Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou.

Born in Trenton, he was a son of the late Steve and Jean (MacKay) Vachal. He worked at the Trenton Works until his early retirement at 55; retiring early so that others could support their families. Stan was a lifelong member of First United Church, Trenton.  He enjoyed the Men's Club and being in the Church Choir. He cherished the friendship of his Church family.

Surviving are his daughters: Christena Vachal; Peggy (Roger) Anglin, Trenton; sons: Stanley Vachal Jr; and Scott Vachal, Trenton; grandchildren: Angela, Stephanie, Matthew and Jonathan; great-grandchildren: Emily and Xavier; sister, Melba Jordan; brother, John Vachal.

He was predeceased by his true love, Shirley Irene; sister, Lorraine; brothers: Gar and Fred.

Stan enjoyed bowling in his early years. He became involved in the Town of Trenton as a Councilor and Deputy Mayor. Stan served on many boards throughout this time: Hospital Board, Glen Haven, Police Commission, Park and Recreation. Rink Comm. Transit, to name a few.  Stan held office of Minor Hockey President.  He was always involved in his community, trying to make Trenton a better place for the youth of the town.

Stan loved to tell a good story to anyone who would listen; so much knowledge and kindness he showed to everyone he met.

We will miss you so much Dad/Pup, as he was so fondly called by his grandchildren.

Public graveside service for Stanley and Shirley will be held at 2pm Wednesday, August 17, in Hillside Cemetery. Reception to follow in the First United Church, 81 High Street, Trenton.

Donations may be made to The First United Church Trenton. Thank you to the wonderful staff at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for showing such compassion during this most difficult time for our family.
