Mildred Harriet Poulain, June 28, 1924 – Jan. 15, 2022. The family of the late Mildred Poulain are saddened to announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at the age of 97. She was a daughter of the late Edward and Elliot Charlton. She is survived by daughters: Shirley McNeill, Sherry (Bernie) Berube; son, John (Heather); grandchildren: Mark (Desirea) McNeill, Chris and Katelyn Berube, Jacqueline (Dave) Sobey; 4 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Charles Poulain; best friends, Les and Ivy Stewart. She was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, John; sisters: Mary (Alex) Wadden, Pearl (Alex) Holmes; son-in-law, Ron McNeill; sister-in-law, Marion (James) Meikle. Mom enjoyed camping and skating in earlier years as well as gardening, doing puzzles, reading and chatting to her friends at High Crest Place or on the telephone. Special thanks to the wonderful staff and friends at High Crest Place. We are all so grateful for your kindness and love given to Mom. Interment in Abercrombie Cemetery in the spring. Donations may be made to the Pictou County SPCA or Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
