Nancy Curley

1948-2022

Nancy Curley

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Nancy Linda Curley, left us suddenly on February 2, 2022, just a few days before what would have been her 74th birthday.  Born in New Glasgow on February 7, 1948, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth ‘Nan’ Campbell.

Mom was a loving person, with a big heart, who always enjoyed spending time with family. Her sisters were her best friends, and her children and grandchildren were her world. She could carry on a good game of cards, enjoyed her garden, and took pleasure in summer days at Melmerby Beach.  If you ever spent any time at her home, you would know it always had the welcoming smell of baked goods, as she was a fabulous baker.

Mom loved to sing (she was infamous for her annual performance of the "Five Golden Rings" verse from the 12 Days of Christmas), she was a great dancer, and enjoyed listening to Rock and Roll and Country music "oldies". She loved to laugh and tell stories and would spend many an evening catching up with family over social media or a quick FaceTime chat. As a long-time employee of the Town of New Glasgow (from where she retired), she greeted everyone she met with a smiling face and a kind word.

Nancy is survived by daughter, Jill of Purcell’s Cove; son, Rob (Amanda) and grandchildren Olivia and Ryan of Hammonds Plains; and son, Brian (Tristaca) and grandsons Caeden and Conlan of Kelowna, BC; sisters: Darla MacLean and Kathy Campbell (Susan Fear); nephew, Glenn MacLean (Sherri MacDonald), all of New Glasgow; sister-in-law, Kathy Munroe of Sydney, along with several nieces & nephews.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Thomas ‘Tucker’ Curley, sister, Shirley (Cliff) MacCulloch, brother, Don Campbell and brother-in-law, David ‘Sonny’ Maclean.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Homes, New Glasgow.  Funeral service 11am Tuesday, July 5, in First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev.
