William Bernard "Bernie" Clark, age 89, of Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late John and Anne (Fitzpatrick) Clark. Dad was a machinist and foreman at Trenton Steel Works and retired as a Superintendent from Hawker Siddley. When there was downtime from Hawker Siddley, Dad worked at the PR Vocational School, Scott Paper, Lingan and Trenton Power. Dad spent many untiring years coaching New Glasgow Minor Hockey while Jim played and continued on well after. Dad always had a car full of kids taking them to and from hockey games. Dad was a devoted Catholic and long-time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. He will always be remembered by his family and friends as having a big heart. Dad was a caring man that would do anything for anyone. Dad truly enjoyed time with his great-grandchildren. He is survived by a daughter, Colleen (Bim Casey) Peers; son, Jim (Donna MacKay) Clark; grandchildren: Sandra Peers, Amanda Peers and Melissa (Chris Smith) Peers; great-grandchildren: Jace and Ryan Smith, Jack Knowles; sisters-in-law: Yvonne Heighton, Ethel Russell, Sandra (Robert) MacDonald. He was predeceased by his wife, Doreen (Wallace) Clark; brother, Robert "Red" (Theresa) Clark; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jim (Muriel) Wallace, Bernie (Audrey) Wallace, Keith Heighton, Robert Russell, Shirley (Robert) Armstrong. A private visitation will take place. A private mass, by invitation, will take place at 11 am Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes. As per NS COVID restrictions, all attendees must wear a mask and show proof of full vaccination and valid ID. The service will be livestreamed with a link available on Our Lady of Lourdes Facebook Page at: www.facebook.com/LadyoflourdesChurchBurial will be at a later date in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Alzheimer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
