Donald Keith "Donnie" Gillis, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022 at the age of 76, in St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish. Donnie was born in New Glasgow on Nov. 9, 1945, the second of thirteen children to Daniel and Helen (MacKenzie) Gillis. Donnie worked at the Trenton Car Works before he joined the Army.  Later, he worked as an addiction counselor at the N.S. Hospital. He is survived by sisters: Mary (Ken) Coady, Yvonne (Joe) Curnew, Janice Gillis, Joan Gladney, Paula Gillis; brothers: John (Cathy), Bill (Emily), Blaise (Jan), Dannie (Carrie) Gillis. He was predeceased by sister, Liz and siblings, Catherine and Peter Gillis in infancy. Visitation 2-3 pm Wednesday, in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, followed by prayers. Face masks are recommended for those attending. A private family burial will take place. Donations in his memory may be made to the Parkinson Society.
