It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas Anthony Pitts announces his sudden passing in the early morning of June 16th, 2022.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Born to parents Clarence and Margaret Pitts on September 8th,1953, in New Glasgow N.S., Doug grew up on Fraser’s Mountain and it was there he would stay.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie, his one and only love, who he married in 1973. Doug and Bonnie were partners in every way. They went on to build a picturesque life and home with their children, Kevin (Vicki) and Sandra (Matt).

Doug worked at the local Michelin plant where he achieved his goal of early retirement at the young age of 52. Although he took great pride in his career, he worked to live and went on to do the things he loved in the years that followed; spending time with family and friends and supporting them always.

He cherished his family, his love for them was palpable. His greatest happiness was unlocked in the hugs of his grandchildren, Camron, Oscar, and Olive. There was never a shortage of love for Puppy.

Doug was a jack-of-all trades who was meticulous in his work. Along with his lifelong friend, Brian, the duo became the local handymen for many. No job was complete without a few extra trips to the hardware store or a check-in with the gang at Tim’s.

Doug was always a phone call away. He was a good man who lived a big life in this small town and he will be forever missed.

Aside from his wife, children, and grandchildren, Doug is survived by his sisters, Marcia (Charlie), Joan (Jim), Kathy; brothers, Danny (Barb), Mike (Anne) and his many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was predeceased by his mother, father and sister Karen.

A private celebration of life will be held at R.H Porter Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
