Charles "Charlie" Vincent Fergus - age 90, Trenton.

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Charlie.  He passed away peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care on Sunday, July 24, 2022.  He was a son of the late David and Jessie (Dowie) Fergus.

Charlie worked at Trenton Industries Ltd. and Nova Scotia Power Corporation, Trenton, retiring in 1991.

Charlie was a member of the First United Church Trenton where he was an Elder, member of the Senior Choir, Men’s Club and Time Out Group.  Charlie was active in sports - ball, hockey, golf and bowling.  He had been a member of the Abercrombie Country Club and a bowling league for 50 years, as well as coaching minor hockey for many years.  Charlie was very proud to have been a member of the Trenton Minor Sports Association and part of the men’s group responsible for building the Trenton rink.

He is survived by sons, Fred (Cathy), New Glasgow; Greg (Bev), Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; granddaughter, Krista (Laurie MacDonald), Trenton; grandson, Adam (Diana), Trenton; great-granddaughters, Scotia, Emily and Calli; sister-in-law, Lucille, ON; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, many cousins and close friends, all of whom he loved greatly.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Margaret; sisters, Mae (Ritchie) Toole, Roberta (John) Galbraith, Lexie Watters; brothers, David, Arthur, and Leonard; brothers-in-law, Ritchie Toole, John Galbraith; sister-in-law, Mildred Fergus; niece, Cathy (Toole) Smith; nephews, Kevin Toole, David Fergus, Jack and Vernon Galbraith.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to the Glen Haven Manor, Aberdeen Hospital 4th Floor and Palliative Care Unit doctors, nurses and staff for all their wonderful care, compassion and concern.

Funeral service will be held at the First United Church, Trenton, on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Douglas MacEachern and Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Masks recommended for those attending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Church, Trenton or charity of your choice.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton.
