Kim MacDonald

Kim Marie (Murphy) MacDonald, Aug. 19, 1960 – Sept. 17, 2022. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kim MacDonald on September 17, at home with her husband Paul at her side.

Born in Thorburn, she was a daughter of the late Dot (Kiley) and Jerry Murphy. Prior to her illness, Kim was employed with Sunset Nursing Home for over 25 years. 

Kim enjoyed reading, walking, her huge collection of dolls, and, of course, her tea time with Aunt Georgina and Uncle Warren. Kim also enjoyed a diverse taste of music from Conway Twitty to Rod Stewart.

Surviving are her husband of 27 years, Paul MacDonald; siblings: Annette (Craig), James (Kerri), Darrell (Jane), all of Brantford, Ontario; numerous nieces and nephews; her fur babies, Jemma and Teddy. Together, Kim and Paul were avid animal lovers. Besides her parents, Kim was predeceased by brothers, Jerry and Shawn. 

The family would like to thank the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, VON, Trenton Fire Department, Nova Scotia Power Trenton Generating Station, staff at R.H. Porter’s and special thanks to Father Tom MacNeil. Thanks also to friends and family for all your support through our difficult time. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Kim’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Arrangements are entrusted to R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A private family graveside service will be held at 2pm Friday, September 23, in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Thorburn, with Fr. Tom MacNeil officiating. Reception to follow at the Trenton Fire Department. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Kim was always a very giving person with no thought of anything in return.
