John "Jack" MacLaren Chisholm, Abercrombie, passed away at home on Monday, October 3, 2022, surrounded by his family.

A Sunnybrae boy born May 3, 1937, he was a son of the late James and Jessie (MacLaren) Chisholm.

Jack started out working driving gravel and logging trucks at a young age. He then went on to work at CN Railroad with his lifelong friend, Donnie MacDonald. 

He was a boilermaker and he traveled to work in every province in Canada, internationally to Australia, Jamaica, Texas, Trinidad and Tobago and Mexico.  He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Local 73.

Jack enjoyed his old cars and attended many car shows as a member of the Pictou County Antique Car Club.  He was a retired member of the Abercrombie Fire Department, and a member of the Abercrombie Community Center.

Dad enjoyed the outdoors taking the kids on many hunting and fishing trips, exposing them to streams and woods and a lot of country music! 

He enjoyed his morning coffee trips to A&W and his Sunday afternoons at Gordie’s garage. He enjoyed lots of good hunting trips to Jim’s camp.

Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years Margaret (Fraser); children, Emily (Billy Horton), Little Harbour; Donald (Laura), Chance Harbour; Michael, McLellan’s Brook; Jenny (Oliver Richards), Toronto; grandchildren, Lagan, Lance, Will, Cole, Zoe, Meera, and Dax; many nieces and nephews; and his special fur buddy, Teddy; sister, Joan (George) McKay; brother, Garth (Lynda); sisters-in-law, Edie Chisholm, Norma (Bev) Morse, Elizabeth Palmer.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Harold and Billy, sister-in-law, Winnie Chisholm and brother-in-law, Allister Palmer.

Public graveside service will be held Friday October 7, 2022 at 2pm at the Abercrombie Cemetery with Rev. Gail Johnson-Murdock officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
