Donald Cameron McKay, Big Island Road, Pictou Co., NS, age 92, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on December 5th 2022 in Valley View Villa Nursing Home, Riverton, NS. Born in Ferndale, Michigan, USA, he was the son of the late Donald and Ruby McKay. He is survived by his wife of 70 years (the love of his life), Joyce Elizabeth McKay and children: Donald, Donna (James Wilson), Lena, Richard, Sherry (Barry Malcolm), Ila (Dale Miller), Mary, Rachel (Steve Chisholm); sister, Ruby Parsons. He was predeceased by daughters, Joy and Patricia. Don was a truck driver with many companies in Pictou County spanning decades, finishing his driving career with Connors Trucking. Don was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, hunting, fishing, ATV/4 wheeling and being outside working on his yard and playing with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don was a loyal Montreal Canadiens fan and rarely missed a game. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered! Visitation will be held at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, NS on Thursday, December 8th 4-6 pm (Masks encouraged), with a private family service the following day.
