Joseph 'Joe' Fraser
1947-2023

Joseph Lawrence Alexander Fraser. Born December 14, 1947, on March 9, 2023, Joe was taken into the arms of his Mom, Leata and Dad, Alva.
Joe is survived by his son, Joseph (Brandy); daughter, Judy (Brad); grandchildren: Brandon, Brooklyn, Addison, Sarah and TJ; brothers: Albert and Ian; sisters: Geneva (George) and Evelyne (Blaine); foster sister, Anne MacLean; aunt, Betty Fraser; 9 nieces and nephews; numerous great and grand-nieces and nephews; best friend/foster son/co-conspirator, Bryan Ward, with whom he enjoyed many daring/silly exploits.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Edwin, Lewis, Barry and Donald; sister, Brenda, and sister-in-law, Pat.
Joe was last employed as a school bus driver for CCRCE which he enjoyed immensely. Before that, he worked driving bus for Boyd’s and Reid’s Bus Service/Tours; he especially loved taking numerous pipe bands to the many festivals around the Maritime provinces and the USA. In his younger years, he also drove taxi for Sween’s Taxi and delivered groceries for Reid’s Convenience Store in Hillside.
Joe very much enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad, brothers and numerous friends. His best memories were of being in the jump seat, travelling down the road in the big rigs with his son, Joseph.
There will be a celebration of Joe’s life at the Thorburn Fire Hall, 738 Marsh Road, on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 2-4 pm. Interment of ashes will be at a later date. Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Palliative Care Unit c/o Aberdeen Health Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
