Clara MacDonald, age 87, of Trenton, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023 at home. Born in Inverness, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Alice (Van Volsen) Lemaire. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for 25 years at Stellarton High and Elementary Schools. She was a member of the former Christ the King Roman Catholic Parish, Trenton. In her younger years, she played horseshoes at the cottage. She was a member of various bowling and dart leagues over the years, and, in later years, played washer toss, darts and cribbage at the cottage. Clara enjoyed music and played the piano and accordion at home for pleasure and at many family gatherings, some of which she hosted at her home. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family; and was also a cancer survivor. She is survived by a son, Kevin MacDonald; brother, Joseph (Mary) Lemaire; nieces: Alice (Stephen) Young; Wendy (Barry) Carde. She was predeceased by her husband, James MacDonald; her parents; nephew, Louie Lemaire. Visitation 7-9 pm Wednesday, in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral 11am Thursday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow. Reception to follow. Burial will be in Christ the King Cemetery, Trenton. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
