Jean Casey, age 85, died June 19th, 2023 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Jean was born in Nottingham, England Dec 30th, 1937, to Edward and Alice (Turner) Chappell.

Being the eldest of three girls, Jean was the one looked upon for guidance and help with her two sisters, Carole and Pat, in war-time England.

Jean met her loving husband of 65 years, Thomas Milton Casey, whilst he was stationed overseas with the RCAF. They were married in Trenton, Ontario and had their eldest son Paul before returning to the UK for most of their married life.

Jean enjoyed gardening in her younger days and was known for her beautiful Hollyhocks in the yard. Her famous baking of chocolate chip cookies and chicken casserole were always a delight for her grandsons. The family dogs were also treated well with homemade peanut butter treats as nothing was more precious to Jean and Tom than ‘Man’s Best Friend’.

She will be dearly missed by her second son, Brendan and Angela (daughter-in-law); grandson, Phil and fiancé Haley Wallace; grandson, Jack and long-time partner Chayla Heath. Jean’s two other grandchildren, Daniel and Morgan, reside back in England. Jean was predeceased by her parents.

Thank you to the Palliative Care staff for taking good care of Jean in her final few days.

Cremation has taken place. Honouring Jean’s wishes, a small funeral service will be held 1pm Friday, June 30, at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, with Rev. Jeanne Hunter officiating.
