Robert Arthur "Bob" Kilcup, of Little
Harbour, Pictou County, NS, passed away in the Aberdeen Hospital on
Friday, June 30, 2023, at the age of 83 years.
Born in Sackville, NB, he was the son of the late Rhoda and
Ernest Kilcup. After graduation from Mount Allison University, he
moved to St. Catharines, ON, and joined Mercury Paint and Varnish
Company as a chemist. It was in St. Catharines that he met and married
Joanne (Neale). They moved to Pictou County in the early
70’s to join Michelin at its new factory in Granton. He
worked in their Service Z until his retirement.
In retirement, Bob took a special interest in the Church
Brook Cemetery in Little Harbour, where he spent several years
documenting locations of funeral plots, serving as caretaker, and as a
member of the Board of Managers. His community service included the
Little Harbour Volunteer Fire Department where he was a 50-year member
and Past President; the Little Harbour Community Centre, including a
term as President; and a long-time volunteer with Scouts Canada,
including leader of the Little Harbour Cubs for several years. He also
loved his Tuesday and Thursday afternoon curling at the Westville
Curling Club.
Bob is survived by his son, Robert
"Stephen" Kilcup; sisters: Shirley Langer of
Fredericton, NB, and Patricia (Baxter) Hicks of Sackville, NB. He was
predeceased by his wife, Joanne (Neale); daughter, Kristen Jane
Kilcup; parents, Ernest and Rhoda (Estabrooks) Kilcup; and by an
infant sister, Anna Joan Kilcup.
Visitation will take place 6-8 pm Sunday, July 9, at R.H.
Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral will take
place 2 pm Monday, July 10, at Little Harbour Presbyterian Church,
with Rev. Dr. Joon Ki Kim officiating. Committal service will take
place in Church Brook Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Little
Harbour Fire Department.

choice.
