Ward Garrett

Beldon Ward Garrett, February 1, 1952 - July 4, 2023.

Ward Garrett, 71, passed away peacefully in Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital after a brief but fierce battle with lung cancer. Despite the intense battle he was fighting, he never complained, accepted what was to be, and had family by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Arlene (Tramble); daughter, Tegan Henschel, grandson, Garrett; daughter, Briana Garrett, granddaughter, Avyn; and siblings, Treen (Cathy), Ruth and Clarke. He was predeceased by his mother, Gladys Garrett (Treen); brother, Paul; and son-in-law, Chad Henschel.

He was employed by Nova Scotia Power for 31 years and retired when he was 49. Shortly after his retirement, he and his wife moved to the USA where they lived in various states for 14 years enabling him to golf year round while Arlene worked as a travel nurse.

Ward was a proud member of the Kinsmen Club of New Glasgow and coached Kinsmen baseball for a number of years as well as gymnastics. He was well known for his love of golf and walked 2 rounds of golf every day. His other hobbies included woodworking, handyman projects, and building furniture. He enjoyed playing games such as poker, cards, mahjong, and doing puzzles. He baked the best chocolate chip cookies and excelled at doing his daughters’ hair for figure skating competitions. He loved desserts, especially ice cream, and laughed uncontrollably at funny movies. He was a happy, hardworking man who enjoyed teasing and spending time with his grandchildren.
