It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allen "Brent" Fraser at the Aberdeen Hospital on August 6th 2023.
Born in Blue Mountain, Nova Scotia on July14, 1956, Brent was the son of the late Howard and Annie Fraser. Brent is survived by his daughter, Lindsay (James) MacEachern, New Glasgow, and son Jared (Lena), Jasper, AB, as well as four beautiful granddaughters, Virginia and Annie Fraser and Lilian and Lexi MacEachern (who stole their papa's heart from the moment he saw them), siblings, Viola (Sevan) and Carmen (Terry), and numerous nieces and nephews. Brent was predeceased by siblings Marie, Donnie, Bobby, Jimmy, Dorothy, Lloyd, Doug.
Brent was a man of few words unless you asked about his kids, grandkids, hockey or a work-related topic. Brent always enjoyed visits with all of Lindsay's and Jared's friends, family and especially with his sister Vi and brother-in-law Sevan. Brent and his daughter spent a lot of time talking and laughing. He would wait for a text on Sundays to see if he needed to deliver McDonalds breakfast.
Brent was a lifelong Montreal Canadiens fan and had the pleasure of seeing them play with his son Jared numerous times throughout the years. His retirement days consisted of daily trips to Tim Hortons at the crack of dawn, sitting out in his balcony people watching and waiting patiently for 2pm when his granddaughters get off school to spend the afternoon with them and Heather May. He was also able to FaceTime his granddaughters in Jasper numerous times a week. Brent enjoyed his daily chats with Jamie about anything and everything and was spoiled from Nora with all her amazing pies and home-cooked meals.
Brent began his career with Scott Maritimes, in the Woodlands Department, and retired from JD Irving Sawmill - Sproule Lumber. While working at JD Irving he would always go in a couple hours early to get the daily gossip. Work was truly his social life; he made some amazing friends. In his final days he talked about the chipper at work, wondering if he turned it off, come to find out he used to change the chipper knives every day with his buddy Ted. At the end we said, "Daddy, we turned the chipper off for you," and he never mentioned it again. This gave him peace.
Brent will be truly missed by so many. However, as he would always say, "Well, I guess it's time for me to hit the road."
A Celebration of Life will take place from 2-4pm Saturday, August 12, at Summer Street Industries. Family flowers only and donations can be made to The Blue Mountain Church or Fire Hall.
