William Andrew MacArthur, also known as "Billy, Big Bill, Uncle Bill", was born on December 9, 1955. Bill passed away quietly at the Aberdeen Hospital on Sunday, September 10th in the company of loved ones.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Tameka MacArthur and stepson, Howard Thompson of Portmore Jamaica. Uncle Bill leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and beloved grandnieces and grandnephews: Leslie (Colin) Aikman, Debbie (Scott) Bowen, Michael (Wendy nee Keough) MacDonald, Bailee, Tanner, and Sydney Bowen, Laney MacDonald, Beatrice Aikman, Tim Roode, Leanne and Melanie MacArthur.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Baxter and Beatrice (Patelakis) MacArthur and his sister, Diana (MacArthur) Roode.  

In his early years, Billy hitchhiked across Canada and returned full of stories. He was a gifted harmonica player and often joined in with Blues and Bluegrass bands. He could often be seen in those days with long flowing hair and his long-haired sidekick, Sarge. 

Bill was a lifelong resident of Trenton and worked at the Car Works for many years in the paint shop and as a workplace hazardous materials trainer.  On the weekends he worked at Sam’s Lounge as a bouncer.

The somewhat tough guy persona was no doubt a result of the adversity he experienced throughout his life. Those who knew Bill well saw his wit and raspy, hearty, big belly laugh, his kindness and soft heart. Bill endeavoured to make a better life for himself and loved spending as much time as he could with family, including his one and only love, Tameka.

Rest in peace Uncle Bill.

Graveside service to be held at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens, Alma Rd., Sylvester on Saturday September 23, 2023 at 2:00pm with Rev. Jeanne Hunter officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home.
