Robert Lyle "Bob" Maxwell, age
80, of Linacy, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023, in the QEII
Infirmary, Halifax. Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late
Gordon and Bridget (Audoux) Maxwell. He was a former meat cutter with
Sobeys and a long-time funeral attendant with R.H. Porter Funeral
Home. Bob was a member of the Linacy Fire Department for 31 years; a
member of the New Glasgow Elks Club; a Toronto Blue Jays fan and an
avid dart and card player. He faithfully attended his
grandchildren’s activities and often sold 50/50 tickets in
support of them. We celebrate the life of a remarkable man, a loving
father, and a devoted grandfather who touched the hearts of everyone
he knew. We honor the memory of a man who lived a life centered around
his three beloved daughters, his cherished grandchildren, and the
sports activities that brought them all together. He is survived by
daughters: Cathy (John), New Glasgow; Robie Lyn (Buzz), Mineville;
Christa, MacLellans Brook; precious grandchildren: Colby, Chad and
Cailey; Max and Anna; Grace (Jason), Brooklyn and Allyson; great
grandchildren: Lillian and Charlie; sister, Peggy MacIssac; brother,
Jack Maxwell. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann (Forward); sisters:
Janet (John) Snow; Wilma (Russell) Crews, Jean (Jim) Ivey; brothers:
Dan and "Sonny" Maxwell; sister-in-law, Ray Maxwell;
brother-in-law, Martin MacIsaac. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Saturday in
R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral 2pm
Sunday, Trinity United Church, 151 Temperance St., New Glasgow, with
Rev. Meredith Fraser officiating. Burial in Abercrombie Cemetery.
