Shana Marie Keay, June 4, 1991 – October 27,
2023.
Shana left her friends and family to join her grandparents,
Gordon Lannon, Hilus and Bernice Keay, uncle, Jerome Lannon, on
October 27, 2023, after her courageous and hard-fought battle with
cancer. She was a beautiful, kind soul who spent her short life
helping others, looking out for others, and always putting everyone
else first.
Shana leaves behind her parents, Clinton and Lisa Keay; her
sisters, Mairi (Ben) Wilson, Regan Keay (Kyle Lanzinger) and her niece
Maren, who was the sunshine in her life; her fiancé,
Brandon Lemieux, his daughter Parker, whom she loved dearly; and her
grandmother, Marie Lannon. She will also be remembered by her aunts
and uncles: Brenda Fitzpatrick (Bill), Gordon (Marg) Lannon, Cyril
Lannon, Diane Lannon (late Jerome), Barry (Jo-anne) Lannon, Ed (Mary)
Lannon, Barbara Lannon, Gary Keay, Rosemary (Hughie) MacDougall, Sean
(Joann) Keay, Jimmy (Lindsay) Keay; as well as numerous cousins who
were very special to her.
At a very young age Shana knew she wanted to be a Pharmacist
and worked at the Sobeys Aberdeen Pharmacy as a technician from Grade
IX. Her first battle with cancer when she was still
a teenager did not stop her determination to be a Pharmacist, but
rather strengthened her resolve. Shana received her
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy in May 2015 from Dalhousie
University and joined Lawton’s on July 15th that same year.
Shana was promoted to Pharmacy Manager Long Term Care with
Lawton’s in July 2018 and loved working side by side with
her colleagues whose friendship she treasured.
Shana loved hockey and was a devoted Toronto Maple Leafs fan;
no matter what their standing, Shana was there for
them! A dream of hers was to attend a playoff game
in person and she accomplished this while completing treatments on May
12, 2023. It was an amazing game that went into overtime and an
experience she treasured. The other passion in Shana’s short
life were her dogs, Toby, Tango and Odin, who will miss Shana as she
loved them dearly.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 1, at R.H.
Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow between the hours of
5 – 8 pm, with a Celebration of Life and reception on
Thursday, November 2 at Summer Street
Industries, 72 Park Street New Glasgow, from 11am –
1pm.
If you wish to acknowledge Shana’s life with a
donation, she would have been pleased to have your kindness shared
with the North Nova SPCA (Donate
online) the Pictou County Food Bank (Donate
online) or a charity of your choice.
