James Raymond Webster, age 94, of Munroe Ave Ext,
passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New
Glasgow. Born in MacLellan’s Mountain, he was a son of the
late James Herbert and Grace MacDonald (MacIntosh) Webster. He began
his working career with Jamieson Motors and Proudfoot Motors. He was
later employed with the NS Dept of Mines, retiring in 1986. As Chief
Mechanic, his duties took him all over the province including Sable
Island. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow
where he was an Elder and member of the Male Chorus. Ray was a former
member of New Glasgow Lions Club; New Glasgow Boy Scout Leader;
Y’s Men’s Club and 55 Plus Club. He loved music
and was a long-time member of the Stellarton Male Chorus and the 55
Plus Club "Singers of Praise". He enjoyed taking
part in plays. Ray loved the activities associated with the outdoors:
hunting, fishing, skating and skiing. He had many fun times spent with
family and friends golfing. He always had a prize garden at his
cottage every summer. He was fond of animals and enjoyed the company
of his family dogs and cats. Ray enjoyed many trips travelling all
provinces with fond memories of Labrador City, Goose Bay, Churchill
Falls, Yukon through the Klondike Gold Rush, Dawson City, Cariboo Gold
Rush country and Queen Charlotte Islands, BC. He also travelled
extensively in many US states including Alaska and Hawaii. He is
survived by a son, James Andrew; sister, Betty MacDonald; brother,
Nolan. He was predeceased by his wife, Daphine (Falconer), daughter,
Debra Ann; brother, John. Visitation 2-3pm Saturday, November 11 at
R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, followed by service at 3pm,
with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial in
MacLellan’s Mountain Cemetery. No flowers by request.
