It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Helen (Skidmore) MacDonald, aged 92, of New Glasgow on November 30, 2023 at the Glen Haven Manor with her granddaughters by her side. 

Born in Stellarton, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Gertrude (Lloyd) Skidmore. 

Helen was a classy lady with a flair for fashion and decorating who loved to shop and find a great sale.  She kept a beautiful home and property which won her several Communities in Bloom awards in past years. 

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was generous, caring, supportive and a huge part of our family and will be missed beyond measure. 

Nanny Helen will be loved and remembered by her granddaughters: Amber (Shane) Watters, New Glasgow & Ashley Ward, Westville;  great-grandsons: Zackery (Emily) Ward, Pictou; Landon MacDonald, Westville; Jamie & Jayden Watters, New Glasgow; soon-to-arrive great-great grandson, Henry Ward; and son-in-law, Allan Cullen, Foxbrook. 

Helen was predeceased by her husband, Hugh MacDonald; daughters: Bonnie Hood, Stacia Cullen and Rebecca in infancy; brothers: Kenny, Jim (Margie), Reggie (Rose) and sister, Bernice (Geordie). 

There will be no service or visitation as per Helen’s request. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
