Donna Marie Cameron, 62, of New Glasgow, passed away on March 4, 2024 with her children by her side at the Aberdeen Hospital.
Donna was born in Halifax to the late John and Ruth Cameron on December 22, 1961. Donna was raised in Caledonia, completing her early education in Guysborough County before attending university at St. Francis Xavier. Donna settled in New Glasgow with her partner Rob before the busy life of being a mom to twins began.
Donna was actively involved in her children’s lives from the early years of attending any and all practices and after school events, to most recently enjoying tea dates (featuring oatcakes) with Jennifer and long phone calls with John. Donna worked part time with AC Nielsen and CrossMark, with Donna enjoying her time chatting with the regulars at the businesses she frequented.
Donna valued time spent with her furry grandchildren, lunch dates, which had to include an order of fish and chips or seafood chowder, and was looking forward to the garden centres reopening (Lowland Gardens to be specific). In the past few years, Donna particularly enjoyed spending time with her friends in the EXCEL program at the YMCA.
Donna is survived by her children, John (Krissi) and Jennifer (Rob). Donna is also survived by her siblings, Debbie (Melvin) Cruikshank, Arnie (Debbie) Cameron, Alvin (Joy) Cameron, and sisters-in-law, Linda and Donna Cameron, along with Libby and Heather Douglas. Donna is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, the late John and Ruth Cameron, Donna was recently predeceased by her partner, Rob Douglas. Donna was also predeceased by her brothers, Eddy and Roy Cameron, brother-in-law, Fred Hagen, as well as her in-laws, John T. and Edna Douglas.
Donna’s family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Aberdeen Hospital. The kindness, compassion and support shown this week during this most difficult time was truly appreciated.
A private family service will be held Sunday, March 10th at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. If you wish, donations may be made in Donna’s memory to the Pictou County SPCA.
