Rosemarie Anna Preuss, of Eureka, Nova Scotia, Canada, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. She was 88 years old. 

Born in Germany, Rosemarie married her devoted husband, Gerhard, and together they embarked on a journey to Canada with their firstborn son, Harald. Rosemarie was the epitome of determination, a quality that she wielded with unwavering love and support for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

Rosemarie was the cherished mother of Harald, Heike, Dennis, and Chris. Though she endured the loss of two sons, Norbert and Thomas, her love for them remained eternal. She was also the proud grandmother of Stephanie, who blessed her with two great-grandsons, Cyrus and Loki. 

Rosemarie’s love extended beyond her immediate family; she cherished not only her children grandchildren and great-grandchildren but also embraced and adored Wanda (married to Harald), Bob (married to Heike), and Sandy (married to Stephanie) as if they were her own. 

A master in the kitchen, Rosemarie's culinary skills were legendary. Her cakes were heavenly, and her sourdough rye bread was unrivaled, earning her the title of the best baker among her family and friends. 

Rosemarie was the last surviving sibling of a family of twelve children, a testament to her resilience and strength. Her legacy of determination and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. 

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no service, and Rosemarie will be cremated. R.H. Porter Funeral Home, located in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, is handling all arrangements. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), and R.H. Porter Funeral Home for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit c/o Aberdeen Health Foundation or the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON). 

Though she may no longer be with us, Rosemarie's spirit will continue to shine bright in the memories and hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
