It is with heavy hearts that on May 11, 2024 we said farewell to Elizabeth "Betty" Flavin, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.  She just celebrated her 84th birthday. She was born in New Glasgow on May 7, 1940 to the late Hugh and Loretta MacLean. Betty is survived by her husband and partner of over 60 years, Rod Flavin; sons: David (Lana) and Roddie; brother; Bob MacLean; sisters-in-law: Irene (Ken) MacDonald, Doris MacLean, Pat MacLean, Darla MacLean, and Viola MacLean; granddaughters: Emily and Isabelle; step-grandson: Vitalii; great-grandchildren: Ivan and Dasha; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters: Isabelle, Kaye and Marion; brothers: Joe, Jack, Ducky, Harvey and Sonny; brothers-in-law: Gerald, Charlie, Francis, and Lorne; and sisters-in-law: Mary, Millie, Maria and Jean. No visitation by request. Funeral mass will be held 10am Friday at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 390 High Street, New Glasgow with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Donations may be made in Betty’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
