It is with great sadness that we, the family of Frances Marie "Babe" (Smith) Stewart, announce her passing on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at the age of 84.

Born in New Glasgow on October 5th, 1939, Babe was a daughter of the late Don and Dougalda "Todd" Smith.

She was predeceased by her only sibling, Colena Smith.

Babe is survived by her only child, Donald (Della) Stewart; much loved granddaughters: Stephanie (Graeme) and Amber (Brandon); and great-grandchildren, Aidan, Harper and Nash; as well as nephew, Todd Smith.

She worked several clerk jobs including Beltone, MacNeil’s Convenience and Waldren Studios, as well as providing excellent, loving care to her mother and granddaughters.

Babe had a great love for all animals but none more than the many cats she had throughout her life.

We would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Glen Haven Manor where she lived for the past 14 months for all their care and compassion.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation and she has been cremated. Private interment in Abercrombie Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made in Babe’s memory to the SPCA. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
