Doris Winnifred (Murphy) Williams, 1934 – 2024. Doris passed away peacefully with family present May 21, 2024 in the Palliative Care Unit, Aberdeen Hospital.

Doris was born in Queensport, Guysborough Co., NS, on January 1, 1934. She was a daughter of the late Harry and Elsie (Spanks) Murphy, of Trenton, NS.

She was a member of the former St. Augustine Anglican Church, Trenton, and a member of St. George’s Anglican Church, New Glasgow.

Doris belonged to the Michelin Social Club and several bowling leagues in earlier years. She loved to bowl, dance and play Bingo.

She worked numerous jobs during her working life but mostly in retail; Claritone, Metropolitan Store, C.P. Smith and finally K-Mart, from where she retired.

Doris was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Leo Williams; brothers: Gary and Barry Murphy; brother-in-law, Murdock MacKenzie.

She is survived by sisters: Eileen MacKenzie, Trenton; Brenda Murphy, New Glasgow; nieces: Lisa MacKenzie, Halifax; Sandra MacKenzie Ehler (Billy), Trenton; grand-nephew, Wyatt MacKenzie Ehler; brother-in-law, Glenn (Betty) Williams, Caribou; special cousin, Ruth Guthro, New Brunswick; special and best friend, Freda McIntyre. 

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place 7-9 pm Friday, May 24, at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 11am Saturday, May 25, with Rev. Jeanne Hunter officiating. Reception to follow the service. Burial in Hillside Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the SPCA or Palliative Care Unit c/o Aberdeen Health Foundation.
